Police Hand Over Richard Lee Case File to Banten High Prosecutor's Office
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Police have handed over the case file alleging consumer rights violations involving suspect beauty doctor Richard Lee to the Banten High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati Banten).
Head of Public Relations for Metro Jaya Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stated that the handover of the file took place on Tuesday (31/3/2026).
At present, investigators are awaiting the results of the prosecutor’s review of the file.
While waiting for the prosecutor’s decision, investigators have also extended Richard Lee’s detention period.
“Investigators have taken steps to extend the detention for the next 40 days,” Budi said.
Richard was designated as a suspect in the case of alleged consumer protection violations related to beauty products and services.
The case originated from a report by beauty doctor Samira, known as Doctor Detective, to the Metro Jaya Regional Police with report number LP/B/7317/XII/2024/SPKT.
“We convey that the case is under investigation, and we state that the suspect designation was made on 15 December 2025 for Mr RL,” said Reonald.
In this case, Richard is charged under Article 455 in conjunction with Article 138 paragraph (2) of Law Number 17 of 2023 on Health, with a penalty of imprisonment up to 12 years or a maximum fine of Rp 5 billion.
On the other hand, Samira was first designated as a suspect in a defamation case based on a report by Richard Lee at the South Jakarta District Police on 12 December 2025.
In its development, Richard was detained after failing to fulfil his mandatory reporting obligations and being found to have conducted a live broadcast on TikTok.
