Investigators from the Sub-directorate of National Security, Metro Jaya Regional Police, have handed over four suspects and evidence related to an alleged blasphemy crime at a music festival in Ancol to the North Jakarta District Attorney’s Office.

The second stage of the transfer involving suspects identified by the initials AK, RE, SM, and IR was carried out on Wednesday (30/9), after the case files were declared complete (P-21) by the public prosecutor on 22 September 2026.

“After the case files were declared complete or P-21, investigators handed over the suspects and evidence to the North Jakarta District Attorney’s Office. Subsequently, the legal process falls under the authority of the public prosecutor in accordance with applicable regulations,” said the Head of Public Relations for Metro Jaya Regional Police, Kombes Pol. Bidd Budi Hermanto in Jakarta, on Friday.

The case originated from an incident at a booth during ‘The Sound Project’ music festival in Ancol, North Jakarta, on 9 August 2026. During the event, there was activity linking the recitation of Al-Quran surahs with the provision of alcoholic beverage prizes to visitors.

Recordings of the incident subsequently went viral on social media, leading to a report being filed with the police. Following the investigation, four individuals were named as suspects and are facing charges under Article 300 and/or Article 301 of the Criminal Code (KUHP).

Following the second stage of the transfer, the public prosecutor proceeded with the detention of the suspects, who have been placed separately in the Cipinang and Pondok Bambu detention centres.

Metro Jaya Regional Police have urged the public to respect the ongoing legal process, uphold the presumption of innocence, and refrain from spreading unverified information or sensitive content that could potentially cause public unrest.

The Metro Jaya Regional Police identified four suspects in the alleged blasphemy case at an alcohol booth during ‘The Sounds Project’ festival at Eco Park Ancol, North Jakarta. The Director of General Criminal Investigation of Metro Jaya Regional Police, Kombes Pol. Iman Imanuddin, confirmed that of the four suspects—identified by the initials RES, AK, I, and M—two have already been arrested and detained.

“Based on the series of investigations and evidence obtained, investigators have named four suspects. Suspects RES and AK were arrested on Wednesday (12/8) and are being held for 20 days at the Metro Jaya Regional Police detention centre starting from today,” said Iman in Jakarta, Thursday (13/8).
