Jakarta (ANTARA) - The East Jakarta Police (Polres Metro Jakarta Timur) has guaranteed the safety of three employees of petrol station 3413901 in Cipinang, Pulogadung, particularly during the legal process, after they were allegedly assaulted by JMH, also known as A (31), on Sunday (22/2) evening.

“We are providing and ensuring security and support for the victims to file a police report (during the legal process),” said East Jakarta Police Chief, Commissioner Alfian Nurrizal, during a press conference at the East Jakarta Police headquarters on Wednesday.

Alfian said that initially, the three victims had not filed a police report after the assault incident on Sunday (22/2) at around 10:10 PM.

However, the East Jakarta Police took a proactive approach by visiting the victims and providing support.

“Initially, the three victims did not file a police report. So, we finally assisted the victims in filing a police report to ensure they receive the legal protection they are entitled to,” said Alfian.

The security measures are a form of the East Jakarta Police’s commitment to providing a sense of security to the community, especially victims of criminal acts.

With this guarantee, the victims finally agreed to file an official report.

The police immediately followed up on the report as the basis for further investigation into the assault case.

Alfian added that they will continue to monitor the situation and provide support until the legal process is complete.

“We ensure that the victims receive protection and support. This is part of our duty to guarantee safety and legal certainty,” Alfian affirmed.

Currently, the investigation is still ongoing, and the police are committed to thoroughly investigating the case.

The incident began when one of the petrol station attendants, Lukman Hakim (19), was on duty on Sunday (22/2) during the night shift at around 10:00 PM.

However, the situation suddenly escalated when the barcode shown did not match the type of vehicle used.

Lukman said that the vehicle’s license plate was the same, but the data and type of vehicle in the barcode were different.

Allegedly, the man became angry after being reprimanded and started shouting in the filling area. He even shouted and challenged the attendants.

The commotion continued when Lukman called a staff member to confirm the filling policy. The perpetrator became even more emotional and pushed one of the staff members, Ahmad Khoirul Anam, causing his head to hit the perpetrator’s car.

The commotion reportedly lasted quite a long time, estimated to be almost an hour, from around 10:00 PM to almost 11:30 PM.

The three victims in the incident were one staff member and two attendants.

They are Ahmad Khoirul Anam, who has worked as a staff member for about five years, Lukmanul Hakim, an attendant who has been working for six months after graduating from vocational high school, and Abud Mahmudin, an attendant with about four years of service.

Khoirul Anam was slapped on the cheek, Lukman was punched in the right jaw. Meanwhile, Abud was punched under the eye and on the cheek near the mouth, causing him to lose a tooth.

The police suspect that a combination of alcohol and narcotics affected the perpetrator’s condition, causing him to act aggressively.

The police have also secured evidence in the form of a black Toyota Vellfire car and CCTV footage stored on a data storage device (hard drive).

For his actions, JMH is charged under Article 466 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 471 of the Criminal Code regarding assault, with a maximum prison sentence of two years and six months.
