Eight luxury cars unclaimed in Batam

BATAM, Riau: Eight luxury cars in four containers apparently
smuggled from Singapore and now being held by the customs service
on Batam Island remained unclaimed as of Thursday, the customs
authorities announced.

Syaifullah Nasution, head of the Batam customs' manifest
section, said on Thursday that the containers had earlier been
seized for having documents that said they contained household
furniture, whereas they actually contained automobiles.

Apart from the initials of HW, the person sending the cars
from Singapore, their actual owners had not yet been identified,
he explained.

The cars consisted of Jaguar, Mercedes Benz and Honda Accord
sedans. --Antara
