JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Chief of the Indonesian National Police, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, stated that the Polri will have a total of 28 food security warehouses by June 2026 to support national food supply stability.

This was conveyed by Sigit in his speech at the simultaneous corn harvest event and the groundbreaking ceremony for 10 Polri food security warehouses, which was attended by President Prabowo Subianto, on Saturday (16/5/2026).

On the same day, the Polri also began the simultaneous construction of 10 new food security warehouses.

“The Polri has built 18 storage warehouses on Polri land in 12 provinces. Today, the simultaneous groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of 10 food security warehouses will be held,” said Sigit, as quoted from the Setpres YouTube broadcast, Saturday.

“So, the total number of Polri food security warehouses will eventually reach 28 units,” he added.

He targeted that the construction of all the warehouses would be completed by June 2026.

Sigit said that the construction of the warehouses was carried out to support increasing the volume of harvests through cooperation with Perum Bulog.

According to him, the presence of the warehouses is expected to help maintain the stability of food supply in various regions.

“The construction of the warehouses is expected to increase storage capacity to maintain the stability of food supply in various regions, not only for corn but also for rice and other food commodities,” said Sigit.

Sigit affirmed that the Polri is committed to supporting the entire corn farming ecosystem from upstream to downstream, including ensuring the absorption of farmers’ harvests.
