Police Force Showcases Corn Harvest and Free Nutrition Programme, Prabowo Promises Star of Mahaputera Award
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has once again pleased President Prabowo Subianto. This time, in front of Prabowo, the police force showcased its thousands of kitchens for the Free Nutrition Programme (MBG) and a large-scale corn harvest.
Prabowo expressed his delight while attending the 2nd Quarter Simultaneous Corn Harvest Festival and Groundbreaking Ceremony for 10 Polri Food Security Warehouses, as well as the Launching of Operations for 166 Polri Nutrition Service Units (SPPG) in Tuban, East Java, on Saturday (May 16, 2026).
“So, I am very happy to be invited here today. I see the extraordinary role of the Polri, and I believe this is due to leadership,” said Prabowo.
In recognition of these achievements, Prabowo promised to award the Star of Mahaputera to the Chief of Police, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
Sigit stated that the Polri now has 1,376 Nutrition Service Units (SPPG) to support the government’s MBG programme.
“In support of the free nutrition programme, we report that the Polri has established 1,376 SPPG,” said Sigit.
Of this total, 736 SPPG are operational, 172 units are in the preparation stage, and 468 others are still under construction.
“If all of these SPPG were to operate, it is projected that they could benefit 3.44 million people and employ 68,000 workers,” he said.
“This is done to expand the reach of nutrition services so that it can have a real impact on improving public health and welfare,” he added.
He also mentioned that the Polri is building 33 SPPG in underdeveloped, remote, and outermost (3T) areas as an effort to equalize access to nutrition for the community.
Furthermore, Sigit stated that the Polri successfully realized a corn harvest of 3.9 million tons throughout 2025 as part of its support for the national food self-sufficiency programme.
“With your permission, Mr. President, in order to realize national food self-sufficiency in 2025, the Polri has succeeded in planting corn on an area of 661,112 hectares with a harvest of 3.9 million tons,” said Sigit.
According to him, this achievement also supports increasing national corn production throughout 2025.
