Police Foil Tramadol Transaction in Tanah Abang, Four Dealers Arrested
The Patroli Perintis Presisi team from the Samapta Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) arrested four men suspected of selling Tramadol, a controlled pharmaceutical, in the Tanah Abang area of Central Jakarta. All four suspects are now undergoing legal proceedings.
The patrol was conducted on Sunday (22 February), led by Second Inspector Dedy Suhendro and Second Inspector Abdul Kadzim, involving 37 combined personnel from the 3P Patrol Team, Monitoring Patrol, and female police officers. During their sweep, officers discovered suspicious transaction activity indicating the unlicensed sale of controlled pharmaceuticals.
Four individuals with the initials S, I, MA, and WS were subsequently detained. Upon searching them, officers recovered 15 strips of Tramadol as evidence. The suspects were handed over to the Tanah Abang Metro Police Sector for further processing.
“The presence of officers in the field serves as both a preventive measure and a law enforcement action to maintain public order and security,” said Samapta Directorate Chief Commissioner Wahyu Dwi Ariwibowo in a statement on Monday (23 February 2026).
Jakarta Metropolitan Police Public Relations Chief Commissioner Budi Hermanto said territorial patrols would continue to be conducted. He urged the public to report any suspicious activity through the 110 call centre.
“Our response is firm, measured, and professional. Public support is vital in breaking the chain of illegal drug distribution,” he said.
