Police Foil Thousands of Hard Drugs Sent via COD to Pakuhaji, Tangerang
Thousands of hard drug pills suspected of being illegally distributed in Tangerang Regency, Banten, have been seized by the Tangerang City Metro Police in Buaran Mangga Village, Pakuhaji District. In addition to securing evidence including 2,650 Tramadol and 2,000 Eximer tablets, officers also arrested a suspect with the initials UA, aged 23. “The suspect was ambushed while attempting to conduct a transaction using a cash on delivery (COD) system,” said Neglasari Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Imron Mas’adi, in an official statement on Sunday (5/7).
The arrest, he continued, stemmed from a tip-off from residents that a hard drug transaction via COD was about to take place in the Pakuhaji area. Following an investigation and surveillance of the suspected target, officers successfully apprehended the perpetrator. “We made the arrest on Friday (3/7). From under the suspect’s motorcycle seat, officers found thousands of hard drug pills,” the Police Chief stated.
As a result, the suspect and the evidence were taken to the Neglasari Police Station for further examination. Besides the thousands of hard drug pills, officers also confiscated other evidence including a mobile phone, a Honda Beat motorcycle, and several clear plastic clip bags suspected to be used for distributing the drugs. “To date, officers are still investigating the origin of these hard drugs, their distribution network, and the possibility of other perpetrators involved in the circulation,” the Police Chief said.
For his actions, the suspect is charged with violating Law Number 17 of 2023 on Health, in conjunction with Law Number 1 of 2026 on Criminal Adjustments, related to the alleged distribution of pharmaceutical preparations that do not meet provisions and conducting pharmaceutical practices without authority. Tangerang City Metro Police Chief, Commissioner Raden Muhammad Jauhari, reminded the public not to purchase or consume hard drugs without a prescription and supervision from healthcare professionals, as it can endanger health and potentially trigger criminal acts. “We invite the public to jointly combat the circulation of illegal hard drugs. If you are aware of any sales activity involving Tramadol, Heximer, or other hard drugs without a permit, please report it immediately to the police or through the 110 Call Centre. The active role of the community is crucial to protect the younger generation from the abuse of dangerous drugs,” he concluded.
