Police foil export of workers
MAUMERE, East Nusa Tenggara: Police in the Sikka regency have foiled the illegal export of 64 workers to Malaysia.
Sikka Police chief Lt. Col. Jimmy Sinaga said on Wednesday a man identified as Bernardus Parera was arrested for allegedly sending the migrant workers without proper documents.
Police raided a building last week belonging to a Jakarta- based company where the Malaysia-bound workers were staying and discovered that the labor importing firm had planned to smuggle the workers into Malaysia. Bernardus was the company's representative in the town.
Sinaga quoted Bernardus as saying that the workers would leave for Malaysia by sea on the Awu vessel. (yac)
