Police Foil Drug Trafficking Attempt at Samarinda Port, One Suspect Arrested

The Samarinda Port Police have foiled the circulation of 22 packets of methamphetamine, a Class 1 narcotic, and arrested a man identified as AK. The arrest took place on Thursday night, June 25, 2026, under the Jalan Abdul Mutholib bridge in Sungai Pinang Luar Village, Sungai Pinang District. Samarinda Port Police Chief AKP Heru Erkahadi stated that the operation was initiated based on public information regarding suspected drug transactions in the area. During a search of the suspect, officers seized 22 packets of methamphetamine with a gross weight of 10.67 grams, a mobile phone, and cash amounting to Rp140,000 believed to be proceeds from drug sales. The suspect, AK, admitted to obtaining the drugs from an individual known as ARI, who is now a wanted fugitive. The suspect is being charged under Indonesia’s narcotics laws, which carry severe penalties including a minimum of five years imprisonment, life imprisonment, or the death penalty. The police have called on the community to actively provide information to help combat drug abuse and trafficking in the region.
