Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Directorate of Narcotics Investigation of Metro Jaya Police has foiled the distribution of 2,000 ecstasy tablets in the Cililitan area, East Jakarta, on Tuesday (3/3), around 13:00 WIB in front of PGC Mall, Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, according to AKP Ari Purwanto, head of Unit 1, Subdit 3 of Ditresnarkoba, in Jakarta on Thursday. Ari explained that from the case’s disclosure a man identified by the initials RF (24) was arrested along with the thousands of ecstasy pills. He added that the breakthrough began from public information about narcotics activity at the location. “Officers then conducted surveillance and mapped the area until they located a man matching the target’s description on the roadside in front of the shopping centre,” Ari said. During the arrest and search, officers found eight large bags containing ecstasy with a total of 2,000 tablets. “Additionally, a mobile phone was seized as evidence,” he said. From the initial interrogation, the suspect RF, who is known to be a student, admitted the illicit goods were in his possession. Officers then searched the suspect’s residence in Depok, but no further evidence was found. Ari also urged residents to help prevent and anticipate drug trafficking by safeguarding their surroundings to protect the younger generation. “The suspect and the evidence have now been taken to the Metro Jaya Police’s Narcotics Directorate Headquarters for further investigation,” he said.
