Police Findings on Company Executive Found Dead at St Regis Hotel, South Jakarta

A 47-year-old man with the initials WH was found dead in a hotel room at the St Regis in South Jakarta. WH was discovered deceased on Wednesday, 15 July 2026. “The chronology is that the victim was staying at the hotel. He was accompanied by a witness at the hotel. Upon checking, it was found that he had passed away,” said South Jakarta Metro Police Public Relations Head AKP Joko Adi Wibowo when contacted on Friday (17/7/2026). Police are investigating WH’s background to shed light on his death. Police stated that WH was a senior official at a company. “Yes, he was an executive at a company,” Joko said. Joko did not explain in detail the company where the victim worked, nor did he specify his position. WH’s death in the hotel room is suspected to be a suicide while he was staying there. Police emphasised there is no criminal element related to WH’s death. “The suspected cause of death is that he took his own life,” Joko said. “There is no criminal element; it was an intention to end his own life,” he added. Furthermore, Joko said WH ended his life using a firearm. WH was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head. “The weapon was also complete, with its documentation in order,” Joko stated. Joko explained the chronology of WH being found dead in the room. At the time, WH went to the hotel accompanied by his driver. WH was later found dead by his driver. The driver checked WH’s room after being asked to by WH’s wife, as she was suspicious of a message sent by WH. “The wife was suspicious. Then the driver received a call from the family asking him to check, so he checked,” Joko said. WH is suspected to have been experiencing problems with his wife when he ended his life. “The suspicion is that he was having problems with his wife. So it was a personal problem. The suspected personal problem was with his wife. He had wronged his wife,” Joko explained. Shortly before his death, WH had sent a message to his child and wife. The message was an apology from the victim. “Related to domestic affairs, the husband-wife relationship. He had apologised. Then via WhatsApp,” he clarified. Joko said that, from the investigation, WH and his wife were actually in the process of trying to repair their relationship. “Actually, they were about to fix things. Initially, the husband felt he had wronged his wife, then on that day, communication with his wife was actually good, and they intended to make amends,” he added.
