The incident occurred on Saturday (16 May 2026) at approximately 3:20 PM. The victim, Dyah Ratnaningtyas, came to the Gambir Police Station to report the loss of her mobile phone. Officers from the Gambir Police Station immediately conducted a search of the area.

“As a result, at around 4:30 PM, the victim’s mobile phone was found by a vendor near the location and then handed over to officers,” said Central Jakarta Police Chief Kombes Reynold E.P. Hutagalung in a statement on Sunday (17 May).

Kombes Reynold appreciated the swift action of Gambir Police Station personnel in assisting the public. The resident’s phone was immediately returned.

“We are committed to providing rapid service to the public for every report received. Alhamdulillah, the victim’s belongings were successfully found and returned,” he explained.

Reynold said that the speed of response from officers on the ground is part of the Polri’s (Indonesian National Police) efforts to provide a sense of security and the best possible service to the public.

“No matter how small, reports from the public must be followed up quickly and professionally. The presence of the police must truly be felt by the community,” he said.

Meanwhile, Gambir Police Chief AKBP Agus Ady Wijaya said that after the mobile phone was found, the victim confirmed that it was indeed hers.

“Once found, officers immediately showed the mobile phone to the reporter and the victim confirmed that it was hers and had been lost,” said AKBP Agus.

He added that the victim chose to withdraw the police report and not pursue legal action after her belongings were found.

“The victim also expressed appreciation and gratitude to the Gambir Police Station personnel for their quick response in helping to find her mobile phone,” he said.

In handling the case, the police took several steps, starting from creating a police report, examining the reporter, checking the crime scene, to administering the investigation related to the withdrawal of the report.

The Central Jakarta Police appealed to the public to immediately report any criminal acts or disturbances to public order in their surroundings. Immediately contact the 110 Call Center, which is active 24 hours a day and free of charge, to request assistance or report incidents that require police presence.
