Police find bombs in Gorontalo
INDONESIA: Gorontalo Police in northern Sulawesi have detained
two men following the discovery of 18 homemade bombs in rented
houses in the Moodu and Tamalata subdistricts of Gorontalo City,
the capital of Gorontalo province.
Gorontalo Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Rozimi said on Saturday
that the 10-centimeter-long bombs were found on Friday by local
residents, who reported their discovery to the police.
The police also confiscated 9.5 kilograms of urea fertilizer
and 10.5 kilograms of ammonium nitrate, Rozimi said as quoted by
Antara.
The two men, identified only by their initials as PS alias Man
and HS alias RS, are being questioned at Gorontalo Police
headquarters.
During initial questioning, the two insisted that they were
planning to sell the explosives to quarries in the province's
uplands.
The police said the suspects had bought the materials to make
the explosives in Manado, the capital of North Sulawesi, and from
a shop selling agricultural supplies in Gorontalo City.
Rozimi called on Gorontalo residents to remain watchful and to
report any suspicious activities to the police.
