The police facilitated a running race in Cakung District, East Jakarta, as a community initiative to minimise negative activities during Ramadan.

The East Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Brigadier Alfian Nurizzal, highlighted the significance of the event, noting that evening hours typically present opportunities for negative conduct. “This is an extraordinary initiative—a night-time running race which, as we know, evenings are usually when negative activities occur,” he stated.

The event, held on Friday 27 February, was branded as the Cak Affan Cup 2026 with the theme “Cakung Safe Beneficial Ramadan Cup.” The running race served as a demonstration of positive community engagement during the holy month, promoting health, solidarity, and collective well-being among Cakung residents.

According to Nurizzal, the activity contributed to the community by enhancing sportivity, physical strength, and social cohesion. The initiative also reinforced public safety objectives in maintaining order and stability within the district. The event received enthusiastic support from the local community, with numerous residents participating.

“And to ensure Cakung remains truly safe, orderly, and controlled, maintaining conduciveness in the Cakung District that we cherish together,” he concluded, emphasising the police’s commitment to sustaining peace and security in the area during Ramadan.
