SOLO, KOMPAS.com - An identity card (KTP) that matches the motor vehicle registration and identification data is an absolute requirement during the motor vehicle tax (PKB) payment process.

Nevertheless, this document is often seen as burdensome by the public in the PKB payment process, because the vehicle is still in the name of the previous owner.

The Deputy Head of the Registration and Identification Sub-Directorate of the Traffic Directorate of Central Java Regional Police, AKBP Prianggo Malau, stated that based on Police Regulation Number 7 of 2021 on Motor Vehicle Registration and Identification, Article 10 Paragraph 6, the KTP is an absolute requirement for the Regident process.

Attaching the KTP can maintain the accuracy of national motor vehicle Regident data and ensure that vehicle administration processes are carried out by a legitimate and officially registered legal subject, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

“Thus, the obligation to attach the KTP is not merely a formality, but part of the national administrative security system to ensure order, accountability, and legal validity,” said Prianggo.

“The electronic KTP cannot be forged, according to Indonesia’s Law Number 24 of 2013 on Population Administration, so it is hoped that illegal practices can be curbed,” said Prianggo.

The main function of attaching the KTP during PKB payment is to ensure the consistency of vehicle owner data with the national population database. In addition, it guarantees the legality and validity of STNK or BPKB documents.

Therefore, attaching the KTP can prevent identity misuse or illegal practices. If the document administration is incomplete, the application may be rejected.
