Police Explain Fallen Billboard at Pedestrian Bridge in Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta
Jakarta (ANTARA) — Police have confirmed that there were no casualties in an incident in which a large billboard detached from a pedestrian bridge (JPO) on the Kebon Jeruk toll road in West Jakarta, specifically across from the Jakarta Kembangan Tax Service Office (KPP Pratama), on Saturday, 28 February.
The billboard, measuring approximately 2x8 metres, became detached from the pedestrian bridge structure, with one side falling onto the toll roadway and partially obstructing traffic flow.
“Thankfully, there were no casualties when the incident occurred,” stated Kebon Jeruk Police Chief (Kompol) Nur Aqsha when contacted by ANTARA in Jakarta on Sunday.
The collapse of the large billboard onto the toll road initially caused traffic congestion. A viral video clip showed a vehicle coming to a complete halt as the billboard fell directly in front of it.
Although authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the billboard’s collapse, Aqsha stated that the incident was immediately handled by officers following the occurrence on Saturday afternoon. “It was handled and upon receiving the report, the duty officer immediately coordinated with toll operators and three pillar units,” he said.
After the billboard was removed, traffic on the toll road returned to normal. “Traffic returned to normal after handling,” he added.
