Police examine two bomb packages

JAKARTA (JP): The National Police bomb squad (Gegana) are examining two suspected bomb packages, found by seven school students on Jl. Tarumanegara in the village of Pisangan, Ciputat, South Jakarta, on Wednesday evening.

"Bomb squad members have so far only stated that the packages contain about 9 steel rods... they have said nothing about bombs yet. Police are still examining the rods," City Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Anton Bachrul Alam told The Jakarta Post on Thursday.

The packages, he said, were found by seven students of the nearby Khasanah foundation at about 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police are questioning the students over the finding. (ylt)
