The police are investigating an alleged case of vandalism and terror involving a resident of Pancoran Mas, Depok, West Java. Five witnesses have been examined so far. “The steps taken by the Depok Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit include checking the crime scene. We have examined five witnesses,” said Head of Public Relations for the Depok Metro Police, AKP Hendra, when contacted on Sunday (19/7/2026). Hendra stated that a summons has been sent to the suspected perpetrator, who is a neighbour of the victim, and they are scheduled to be questioned on Monday (20/7/2026).

The case came to light after CCTV footage went viral on social media, showing a man throwing a helmet into the victim’s house in Pancoran Mas, Depok. In the video circulated on Thursday (16/7), the man is seen pacing back and forth on his motorcycle in front of the victim’s gate before hurling the helmet forcefully into the property. On a different occasion, the same man was seen dumping rubbish into the victim’s house. Several residents attempted to intervene, but a commotion ensued. The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit, AKBP Made Gede Oka, confirmed that the victim filed a police report on Wednesday (15/7) under number LP/B/1531/VII/2026/SPKT/POLRES METRO DEPOK.

The victim’s daughter, Novita (29), recounted that the neighbour frequently causes disturbances. She said the house gate was damaged after being kicked by the neighbour on Wednesday (15/7). Novita also revealed that her family had previously been terrorised by the same neighbour, who brandished a machete during the last Eid celebration. “During Eid, when the family was gathered at home, he brought a machete. There are many living witnesses, my family members are still alive. Unfortunately, there was no CCTV at the time,” she said. She added that verbal harassment occurs almost daily.
