Police examine Codeblu over extortion and defamation case

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Criminal Investigation Agency of the National Police Headquarters (Bareskrim Mabes Polri) is examining a food vlogger named Codeblu or William Anderson as a witness in a defamation and extortion case. “Yes, he is currently being questioned to obtain his statement,” said Deputy Head of Subdirectorate II of the Cyber Crime Directorate of Bareskrim Polri, Commissioner Pol Andrian Pramudianto, when confirmed by ANTARA in Jakarta on Tuesday. However, Andrian did not explain in detail the matters being asked by investigators to Codeblu during today’s examination. He only confirmed that the questioning process is still ongoing at this time. Based on gathered information, Codeblu was reported by PT Prima Hidup Lestari, the owner of the Clairmont brand, in February 2026. The Clairmont side reported Codeblu because they felt extorted after their product previously received a bad rating based on Codeblu’s review. After receiving the bad review, the Clairmont party received an offer of consultancy from Codeblu with the aim of restoring a good image to the product. However, the Clairmont party felt that the price for the consultancy services offered by Codeblu was too high and appeared to have extortionate intent.
