Police examine 17 witnesses in Central Jakarta false imprisonment case
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police have examined 17 witnesses as they investigate an alleged case of extortion, threats, deprivation of liberty, and assault that occurred at a printing shop in the Senen area, Central Jakarta.
Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Reynold E. P. Hutagalung, stated that the witness examinations were conducted intensively to strengthen the scientific crime investigation and reinforce the legal facts in the case.
“To date, 17 people have been examined as witnesses, and we will continue to conduct examinations, particularly of relevant stakeholders and competent witnesses,” he said during a press conference at Polda Metro Jaya on Friday.
Reynold also explained that in addition to examining the dozen witnesses, investigators have received the post-mortem reports for the three victims: Muhammad Rafli Jailani, Tegar Saputra, and Adit Saputra.
“To restore the physical and psychological condition of the victims, the police are collaborating with the Medical and Health Division of Polda Metro Jaya for medical assistance and the Human Resources Bureau of Polda Metro Jaya to implement a trauma healing programme,” he said.
Reynold stated that his party has also coordinated with the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) to provide protection for witnesses and victims.
“This includes facilitating the right to restitution for damages as stipulated in Article 66 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code,” he said.
He explained that the case occurred on Friday, 5 June 2026, at around 7.30 p.m. Western Indonesian Time at the Mau Print shop, Jalan Kalibaru Timur Number 182, Bungur Urban Village, Senen District, Central Jakarta.
In this case, the Central Jakarta Metro Police have named and detained seven suspects, consisting of five men and two women, with the initials MML (40), AI (41), S (48), AYL (29), NHJ (42), and the two women CML (37) and II (36).
“The suspects are currently detained at the Central Jakarta Metro Police Detention Centre and are charged with multiple articles related to extortion, threats, deprivation of liberty, and assault as stipulated in the new Criminal Code,” Reynold concluded.
