Jakarta (ANTARA) - Personnel from the Direktorat Samapta Polda Metro Jaya evacuated residents affected by flooding in Jalan Pengantin Ali 7, Ciracas, East Jakarta, on Saturday (21/3) as a follow-up to a call via the Polri 110 emergency service. “We are present to ensure that the public affected by flooding or other emergency situations receives assistance that is quick, precise, and professional,” said the Director of Samapta Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol. Wahyu Dwi Ariwibowo, in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday. In addition to evacuating those in need, police personnel also conducted disaster standby patrols in the surrounding area as a measure to anticipate potential escalating disaster situations. Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations for Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol. Budi Hermanto, urged the public not to hesitate to utilise police services when facing emergencies or requiring assistance from officers. “We urge all members of the public to immediately utilise the Polri 110 rapid response service if they encounter emergency situations, disasters, or need other police assistance. This service is a tangible form of the Polri’s presence in responding to every need of the community,” he said. He added that Polda Metro Jaya will continue to take preventive and responsive measures in addressing disaster situations or other emergencies. The flooding in Ciracas, caused by the overflow of the Kali Cipinang, inundated nine neighbourhood units (RW).
