The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has established a new Regional Police Headquarters (Polresta) in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) area in East Kalimantan, alongside four new Type D Police Resorces (Polres).

Furthermore, Polri has upgraded the status of eight Type D Polres to Polresta. Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, Head of Public Relations for the Polri Division, stated that the formation and upgrading of these regional units are strategic steps to strengthen police services to the community. He added that this move is intended to align organisational needs with regional development and increasingly dynamic public order and security challenges.

According to Telegram Letter number ST/1336/VI/KEP./2026, the position of Chief of Police for the IKN area has been entrusted to AKBP Supriyanto, who previously served as the Deputy Director of Marine and Air Police at the East Kalimantan Regional Police.

The four newly formed Type D Polres are located in North Padang Lawas, Central Sumba, Konawe Islands, and Banggai Laut. Meanwhile, the eight Polres that have been upgraded to Polresta are located in Karawang, Batang, Klaten, Tuban, Sumenep, Gowa, Banggai, and Central Lombok.

Previously, Polri conducted rotations, mutations, and promotions for 1,121 high-ranking and middle-ranking officers. These movements were carried out through seven Telegram Letters issued on 25 June 2026.

The seven issued Telegram Letters include ST/1335/VI/KEP./2026 involving 74 personnel, ST/1336/VI/KEP./2026 involving 359 personnel, ST/1337/VI/KEP./2026 involving 65 personnel, ST/1338/VI/KEP./2026 involving 174 personnel, ST/1339/VI/KEP./2026 involving 150 personnel, ST/1340/VI/KEP./2026 involving 104 personnel, and ST/1341/VI/KEP./2026 involving 195 personnel.

Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko noted that mutations are a standard organisational practice for career development and as an effort to improve institutional performance. He emphasised that mutations and promotions are part of organisational dynamics aimed at enhancing professionalism, leadership capacity, and the effectiveness of Polri’s duties in providing service, protection, and guidance to the public.
