Police establish Cikarang office

JAKARTA: The City Police opened a new subprecinct office in
the industrial zone of Cikarang, Bekasi, as part of efforts to
fight terrorism in the capital Jakarta, the city police chief
said on Wednesday.

"We also need the local administration to help ... and not
simply issue identity cards to newcomers without cooperating with
us on checking on them first," Insp. Gen. Firman Gani said in a
speech.

He said another police precinct office would soon be opened in
eastern Jakarta.

Firman also said intelligence activities would be stepped up
in other Jakarta buffer zones. -- JP
