Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has equipped 282 young officer candidates (capaja) of the 58th Police Academy (Akpol) class with an understanding of global geopolitical dynamics, in an effort to prepare officers capable of safeguarding national stability amid increasingly complex security challenges.

In a message from National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, read by Deputy National Police Chief Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo at the Akpol graduation ceremony in Semarang, Central Java, on Friday, the young officers were called upon to possess strategic insight into global developments so they can carry out policing duties adaptively and with the nation’s interests at heart.

“The current geopolitical dynamics are in a state full of uncertainty. The US-Israel conflict with Iran, the Russia-Ukraine war, the hegemonic rivalry between the United States and China, and tensions in the Middle East region have affected global security stability, supply chains, food and energy resilience, and the world economy,” said Commissioner General Dedi, reading the Police Chief’s message in a statement received in Jakarta.

In the message, the Police Chief explained that these conditions have also affected Indonesia, including through the weakening of the rupiah exchange rate and a decline in the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG).

However, according to him, the government has been able to maintain economic stability through fiscal and monetary policies as well as strategic programmes such as food and energy self-sufficiency, industrial downstreaming, strengthened investment, and increased use of domestic products.

During the briefing, the Police Chief also affirmed Polri’s role in supporting government policy through various programmes addressing community needs, such as the use of land for maize cultivation, the construction of Polri Food Resilience Warehouses, the operation of Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG), free healthcare services, and the construction of the Precise Red-and-White Bridge.

In addition, Polri continues to strengthen energy resilience through law enforcement in the oil and gas, mining, and electricity sectors, accompanied by the safeguarding of vital national objects and energy distribution. These efforts are complemented by the protection of workers’ rights through the Polri Labour Desk and the improvement of human resources quality through the establishment of the Kemala Taruna Bhayangkara Senior High School.

“All these efforts are a manifestation of Polri’s support in strengthening food and energy resilience, improving the quality of public health and nutrition, expanding infrastructure access, and preparing an outstanding young generation,” he said.

Through the briefing, Polri hopes that the 282 graduates of the 58th Akpol class will not only possess technical competence as Bhayangkara officers but also understand the nation’s strategic challenges, so they can become professional, adaptive and integrity-driven Polri leaders who are ready to champion national interests amid global geopolitical dynamics.
