He conveyed this in a written statement received here on Saturday, in response to President Prabowo Subianto’s directives during the 2026 International Workers’ Day (May Day) commemoration event at the National Monument on Friday (May 1).

“The President’s directive on May Day 2026 affirms that the state is present to protect workers and laborers. Through the Labour Desk, the National Police ensure this protection is realized through consultation services, complaint handling, and professional, transparent, and fair law enforcement,” he said.

Prasetyo said the police’s Labour Desk establishment reflects President Prabowo’s Astacita vision, especially in improving job quality and promoting inclusive national economic growth.

“This desk serves as a platform for cross-sector collaboration to maintain social, cultural, and security stability, while ensuring workers’ rights are optimally protected,” he said.

The National Police Labour Desk will continue to be strengthened as the front line in providing legal protection for Indonesian workers and laborers.

“The National Police are committed to continuing to serve as protector and guardian of the public, including workers and laborers, in order to achieve social justice and support sustainable national development,” he said.

Meanwhile, Director of Certain Crimes at the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency, Brigadier General Irhamni, explained that since its establishment last year, the Labour Desk has received 144 complaints, of which 35 cases have been resolved and 109 are still under process.

Of the resolved cases, 34 were settled through restorative justice, while one case proceeded to trial after the investigation step was declared complete.

Cases handled by the Labour Desk include layoffs, wage disputes, union busting, severance and social security issues, as well as occupational safety concerns.
