Bekasi (ANTARA) - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) is ensuring the smooth and secure flow of the second wave return traffic (28-29 March) by implementing enhanced routine activities (KRYD), following the end of Operasi Ketupat 2026.

Polri Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, while inspecting the Eid return traffic at the Jasa Marga Tol Road Command Centre in Jatiasih, Bekasi, on Wednesday, stated that Polri personnel remain on standby to provide security and services during this return period.

“Polri is currently adding to its operations because our operation has ended today; we are extending it by 3 or 4 days with enhanced routine activities (KRYD),” said Sigit.

“This is all part of efforts to ensure that the entire outbound and return traffic sequence is well-maintained,” he added.

The four-star general explained that the peak of the first wave return occurred on Tuesday (24/3) with 256,338 vehicles heading to Jakarta and its surroundings.

Records show that 2,521,229 vehicles left Jakarta during the outbound journey.

As of midday at 12:00 WIB, approximately 2,040,000 vehicles had entered the Jakarta and surrounding areas. Thus, there are likely another 481,229 vehicles yet to return to Jakarta.

“This means there is still a remainder from the approximately 2,521,229 vehicles that left Jakarta minus 2,040,000, which becomes our ‘homework’ to handle in activities related to the peak return,” he said.

The former Banten Police Chief noted that this year’s peak return is the highest compared to the previous year, rising from 223,163 vehicles in 2025 to 256,338 in 2026.

“So we hope that in the remaining time, as a second peak return is predicted on 28 and 29 (March), the remaining vehicles that have not yet returned and possibly additional ones from the public heading to Jakarta can be managed,” he explained.

The former Head of the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency also advised the public to make use of the remaining time to travel back safely and smoothly, and urged Jasa Marga to take measures to ease the return traffic to avoid disruptions to the flow.

Additionally, he advised those returning from Eid homecoming trips to prioritise safety and to rest if feeling tired during the journey.
