Police ensure security for Chinese New Year 2577 celebration in Jakarta tonight

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Bomb Squad Unit of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) has ensured the security of the National Chinese New Year 2577 Kongzili celebration at a hotel in the Jalan Sudirman area, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, on Sunday evening.

The team, together with the organising committee, previously conducted thorough inspections at a number of strategic points including the main stage, backstage area, VVIP guest seating, music stage, audio and video control room, and VVIP transit room.

Jakarta Metropolitan Police Mobile Brigade Commander Henik Maryanto said in Jakarta on Sunday that the security sweep through sterilisation was a preventive measure to guarantee the safety of public activities.

The inspection results showed no suspicious objects or hazardous materials were found. After all procedures were completed, officers carried out a formal handover of the sterilisation report with the organising committee.

“Sterilisation is our priority for every public event. The Jakarta Metropolitan Police Mobile Brigade is committed to ensuring all activities, particularly religious celebrations, take place safely, orderly and smoothly,” he said.

He also urged the public to work together to maintain a conducive security situation and to immediately report any potential security disturbances through the 110 Call Centre, which operates around the clock.
