Police engage 12,420 MSMEs to strengthen food security ecosystem

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo announced that the Indonesian National Police (Polri) is building a food supply chain ecosystem involving 12,420 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), farmer groups, breeders, fishermen, and cooperatives to strengthen national food security while improving public welfare. Speaking during the 80th Bhayangkara Day commemoration in Jakarta, Sigit said the strengthening of food security is carried out through the development of various independent food production facilities, such as greenhouses, biofloc fish ponds, cattle, goat, and chicken farming, as well as the construction of integrated central supply warehouses. “Through these measures, Polri is building a supply chain ecosystem that involves 12,420 MSMEs, including farmer groups, breeders, fishermen, and cooperatives, so as to boost the welfare of local business actors,” Sigit stated. In addition to strengthening the food supply chain, Polri is also supporting the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme by building Nutritional Service Units (SPPG) in various regions. According to the National Police Chief, the presence of SPPG is expected to expand public access to nutritious food while improving health quality. In the infrastructure sector, Polri has also constructed 775 Precision Red and White Bridges across Indonesia. To date, 711 bridges have been completed, while the remaining 64 units are targeted for completion by July 2026. “The massive construction of SPPG and bridges has brought many benefits to the community. The MBG programme has supported improvements in health quality through increased access to nutritious food, while the bridge construction has helped bring the public closer to various public facilities, such as schools, hospitals, and other priority services,” he said. The National Police Chief stated that these programmes are part of Polri’s contribution to supporting the national development agenda, not only through maintaining public security and order but also through strengthening food security, enhancing regional connectivity, and empowering the community’s economy.
