Police Distribute Snacks and Mineral Water to Protesters at DPR

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Central Jakarta Metro Police distributed bread and packaged mineral water to the crowd of workers from the Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Metal Workers’ Union Federation (DPP FSPMI) who held a protest rally in front of the DPR/MPR building. “In every security operation for actions, we emphasise to all personnel to prioritise service, a humane approach, and good communication with the action participants,” said the Chief of Central Jakarta Metro Police, Kombes Pol Dr. Reynold E.P. Hutagalung, in Jakarta on Thursday. According to him, during the workers’ protest, his side also provided snacks and mineral water distributed to them. Reynold stated that the distribution of snacks was a form of care from the officers in the field in serving the protest crowd. He stressed that the security was not merely to keep the situation conducive, but also as a form of service to the public expressing aspirations in public. “Central Jakarta Metro Police is present to ensure that community aspiration activities can take place safely, orderly, and smoothly,” he said. Previously, Central Jakarta Metro Police (Jakpus) deployed 1,948 combined personnel to handle the protest held by the Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Metal Workers’ Union Federation (DPP FSPMI) and several community elements in the DPR/MPR area on Thursday. The officers were deployed at several strategic points, especially in the DPR/MPR building area, to anticipate potential disturbances to public security and order (kamtibmas) as well as traffic congestion around the protest location.
