Police Distribute Mineral Water and Bread to Student Protesters at Silang Monas

Polda Metro Jaya demonstrated a humanitarian approach in managing a student protest in the Silang Monas area, specifically in front of Menara BSI, Central Jakarta. Police distributed mineral water and bread to the participants.

Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Reynold EP Hutagalung stated that the activity was a form of humanitarian service by the Indonesian National Police in safeguarding citizens expressing their opinions in public.

“The police are present not only to provide security but also to serve the community, including the students who are voicing their aspirations,” Reynold said on Monday (15/6/2026).

According to Reynold, the humanitarian approach is an important part of every security operation. Officers in the field are instructed to maintain a persuasive, patient, and professional attitude.

“We prioritise humanitarian and persuasive service. The hope is that the entire series of activities can proceed safely, orderly, and conducively,” he said.

The distribution of bread and mineral water was led by the Gambir Police Chief and personnel from the Directorate of Samapta of Polda Metro Jaya. The protesters welcomed and expressed appreciation for the police’s social action.

The activity was carried out under the control of the Object Commander, Gambir Metro Police Chief AKBP Agus Ady Wijaya. The snacks distributed to the protesters were confirmed to be fit for consumption with an expiration date of 4 September 2026.

Central Jakarta Metro Police also urged the protesters to remain orderly, maintain security, and express their opinions in accordance with applicable regulations.
