Jakarta (ANTARA) - Police personnel distributed mineral water and bread to participants of a demonstration organised by the DPW LSM Harimau DKI Jakarta, held at the South Square of Monas, Central Jakarta, on Monday.

Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Pol. Dr. Reynold E.P. Hutagalung, stated that police officers approached the protesters to personally hand out the water and bread as a gesture of care towards the public.

“Alongside our duties, personnel also distributed drinking water and bread to the protesters. This is a simple form of attention and an effort to maintain good communication with the community,” said Reynold.

He added that the police presence during the expression of opinions is directed towards ensuring that public aspirations can be conveyed safely, orderly, and comfortably.

According to him, the service provided to the protesters was carried out alongside the security operations as part of an effort to maintain communication between police personnel and the public expressing their grievances.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations for the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Kombes Pol. Budi Hermanto, stated that field personnel are instructed to maintain a professional, polite, and humanistic attitude while performing their duties.

He noted that the police continue to respect the public’s right to express their opinions.

“We hope that all aspirations can be conveyed peacefully and in an orderly manner. Let us respect one another and work together to maintain the situation so that community activities can proceed well,” said Budi.
