Police Display CCTV Images of Faces of Acid Attack Perpetrators on Andrie Yunus, Confirm They Are Not AI-Generated

JAKARTA - Police have displayed photographs of the faces of two perpetrators who carried out an acid attack on Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of KontraS, as captured by several CCTV cameras along the road traversed by the suspects.

Director of General Criminal Investigation at Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Pol Iman Imanuddin, emphasised that the displayed photographs are genuine captures without any further processing.

“This has not undergone any changes or processing whatsoever, so we can take responsibility that this is not the result of Artificial Intelligence (AI),” Iman stressed during a press conference at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters on Wednesday (18/3/2026).

Currently, police are still hunting for the two suspects believed to be the perpetrators based on the CCTV footage findings.

Iman also revealed that one of the perpetrators is suspected to have been hit by the acid splashed onto Andrie.

In one CCTV recording on Jalan Diponegoro, the perpetrators are seen pulling their motorbike to the side of the road.

One perpetrator wearing a red T-shirt is seen with his accomplice washing their bodies using flowing water.

“It is suspected that it hit part of their bodies, so both of them tried to clean it with mineral water,” said Iman.

He also confirmed that the photograph circulating on social media, particularly from the @Robe1807 account on platform X, is an AI manipulation. That photo has now been deleted by the uploader.

Previously reported, Deputy Coordinator of KontraS Andrie Yunus was splashed with acid by unidentified persons (OTK) on Thursday night (12/3/2026).

Coordinator of KontraS Working Body, Dimas Bagus Arya, said the incident occurred at 23:37 WIB when Andrie Yunus was riding his motorbike on Jalan Salemba I-Talang, Senen, Central Jakarta.

While passing the location, two perpetrators riding a motorbike believed to be a Honda Beat from 2016 to 2021 models approached the victim from the opposite direction on Jalan Talang (Talang Bridge).

The first perpetrator acting as the rider was wearing a white-blue combination T-shirt, dark trousers suspected to be jeans material, and a black helmet.

One of the perpetrators then splashed acid towards the victim, hitting parts of the victim’s body.

Andrie suffered burns on his right and left hands, face, chest, and eyes.
