An illegal street racing event was about to take place on Jalan Pemuda, Pulogadung, early Sunday morning (17/5/2026). The action was taken after officers received information from the public regarding suspicious activity at the location.

When the patrol team arrived at 04.19 WIB, a number of youths were seen gathering with several motorcycles.

“Officers then carried out an inspection and secured five youths along with their vehicles before handing them over to the local police for further data collection,” said the Head of the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Kombes Henik Maryanto, in a statement on Sunday (17/5).

Police continue to increase patrols to maintain a conducive public security situation, especially in areas prone to brawls and illegal racing. The police will take action against all forms of activity that disrupt order and security.

“This illegal racing not only disturbs residents but also endangers road users and the perpetrators themselves. Therefore, we continue to intensify routine patrols, especially during peak hours in the early morning,” he said.

In addition to dispersing the gathering, a joint task force patrolled several areas prone to public security disturbances in East Jakarta. Residents are urged to report to the police if they find any potential security threats.

“The National Police also urges the public to immediately report any potential security threats, brawls, or illegal racing activities through the Polri Call Center 110 so that officers can take immediate action,” he said.
