Police have dismantled a syndicate involved in the theft of underground cables belonging to a telecommunications company in the Dayeuh area, Cileungsi District, Bogor Regency, West Java. Several perpetrators were apprehended in the case.

Cileungsi District Police Chief Kompol Edison stated that the arrests occurred on Friday, 27 February 2026. The investigation began following suspicious excavation activity reported by residents.

“The investigation commenced from community information regarding suspected suspicious earth-digging activity at the location,” he said on Saturday, 28 February 2026.

After receiving the residents’ report, Edison and his officers immediately proceeded to the site for inspection. Upon arrival, suspicious excavation activity was confirmed.

“During the raid, the perpetrators were in the process of pulling cables that had previously been cut,” he explained.

At the scene, police discovered one truck suspected of being used to transport the stolen cables. From initial examination, the perpetrators indicated they had been conducting the theft for approximately two days.

“Approximately 60 metres of underground cable had been reported cut,” he added.

During the arrest, police recovered approximately 30 metres of cable. Several cable-cutting tools and digging equipment were also seized.

The perpetrators were brought to the police station for further questioning. The police force has also collaborated with the telecommunications company for the investigation process.

“Cileungsi District Police also apprehended several individuals identified as former employees of PT Telkom contractor partners who were no longer employed,” he concluded.
