Police Dismantle Motorcycle Theft Syndicate in Bogor, Thieves and Fence Arrested
Police have dismantled a syndicate of motor vehicle theft perpetrators in the Gunung Putri area of Bogor, West Java. Both the thieves and the fence for the stolen goods have been arrested.
“The Gunung Putri Police Sector has successfully uncovered an alleged criminal act of buying and selling motorcycles without ownership documents, originating from public information regarding motorcycle transaction activities that were not accompanied by proper paperwork,” said Gunung Putri Police Chief Kompol Hillal Adi Imawan on Saturday (29/8/2026).
On Tuesday (25/8), the police conducted a check at the location. Officers then detained a man with the initials S, who is suspected of being the fence for the stolen motorcycles.
“During the examination, S, who claimed to be the owner of the vehicle, was unable to present the complete ownership documents for the motorcycle,” he explained.
S was then taken to the police station for further examination. From the results of the examination, S admitted to purchasing the motorcycle from a man with the initials N in Cicadas Village.
“Following up on this information, the Gunung Putri Police Sector team then carried out further investigation at the location,” he stated.
