Police Discover Two Small Safes Hidden Inside a Large Safe During Raid

Jakarta, VIVA – New facts have emerged from a search conducted by the joint team of the Corruption Eradication Task Force (Kortas Tipikor) of the National Police and the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police at Cafe de’Clan Signature in Cipete, South Jakarta. A witness with the initial F revealed one of the findings that most attracted investigators’ attention: two small safes stored inside a single large safe.

The existence of the layered safes only became known after investigators dismantled a cabinet, or buffet, located in a special staff room on the second floor of the building. According to F, the safes were deliberately hidden so they could not be seen from the outside.

Safes hidden behind a cabinet

F said he accompanied the search process as a witness after being asked to come to the location at around 11.30 Western Indonesian Time.

When investigators examined the staff area, their attention was drawn to a cabinet inside the office space. After the cabinet was opened, there turned out to be another door concealing a large safe.

“The safe was behind the second door. Inside the buffet. So the buffet was opened, and there was another door. That was then dismantled,” F said.

According to him, the storage location made the safe difficult to detect because it was hidden behind the room’s furniture.

Police brought in a worker to dismantle it

The process of opening the safe was not carried out in the usual manner. F said investigators had brought in specialists to help with the dismantling because the safe was locked.

After the main safe was successfully opened, investigators were met with another surprise.

Inside the large safe, there turned out to be two smaller safes.

“They had already brought a worker. Inside the safe there were more safes. Two small safes. So a big safe, small safes. There were two,” he revealed.

The discovery made the search process take longer because investigators had to open every layer of storage before securing the items inside.

Containing cash and suspected gold

Once all the safes had been opened, the police immediately secured all of the contents found within.

F said the items he saw investigators carry away included cash in both rupiah and dollars.
