Police Discover Two Small Safes Hidden Inside a Large Safe During Raid

A new fact has emerged from a search conducted by a joint team from the Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortas Tipikor) and the Metro Jaya Police’s Special Criminal Investigation Directorate at Cafe de’Clan Signature in Cipete, South Jakarta. A witness identified as F revealed one of the most intriguing findings for investigators: two small safes stored inside one large safe. The existence of the layered safes was only discovered after investigators dismantled a cupboard or buffet located in a special staff room on the second floor of the building. According to F, the safe was deliberately hidden so it was not visible from the outside. F, who accompanied the search process as a witness after being asked to come to the location around 11:30 AM WIB, said that while investigators were examining the special staff area, their attention was drawn to a cupboard in the office. After the cupboard was opened, there was another door covering a large safe. ‘The safe was behind the second door. Inside the buffet. So the buffet was opened, and there was another door. That was then dismantled,’ F said. According to him, the storage location made the safe’s presence difficult to detect as it was hidden behind the room’s furniture. The process of opening the safe was not done in a usual manner. F stated that investigators brought in specialist personnel to assist with the dismantling because the safe was locked. After the main safe was successfully opened, investigators found another surprise. Inside the large safe were two smaller safes. ‘They had brought a technician. Inside the safe, there was another safe. Two small safes. So a big safe, and small safes. There were two,’ he revealed. The discovery prolonged the search process as investigators had to open all layers of storage before securing the items inside. Once all the safes were opened, the police immediately secured the entire contents. F said the items he saw being taken by investigators included cash in both rupiah and dollars.
