Police discover methamphetamine and tramadol during raids in Tambora
The West Jakarta Metro Police have detained four individuals found carrying narcotics, including methamphetamine, synthetic cannabis (sinte), and the controlled drug tramadol, during a street crime crackdown in the Tambora area, West Jakarta, in the early hours of Sunday. “The four individuals have subsequently been detained to undergo examination and further investigation by officers to determine the origin and connections of the seized items,” stated the Head of Operations for West Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP H. Tri Bayuna Nugroho, in Jakarta on Sunday.
Tri Bayu explained that the arrests originated from Street Crime Raids and Mobile Patrol activities conducted between 00:30 and 03:30 WIB. The operation involved senior officials from the West Jakarta Metro Police as well as elements of the ‘Three Pillars’ (TNI, Police, and Local Government).
During the operation, officers swept through several main roads and high-risk areas for public security and order disturbances in the West Jakarta region. In addition to mobile patrols, officers also conducted stationary raids at several strategic locations.
Key focus areas for the raids included Jalan Tubagus Angke, Bandengan Utara Pekojan, Tomang Raya, and the Rawa Buaya area in Cengkring.
Field officers conducted intensive inspections of motorists and individuals exhibiting suspicious behaviour. This measure was taken to anticipate various forms of street crime.
“The inspections were carried out to anticipate various forms of street crime, such as robbery, motor vehicle theft, brawls, and drug abuse,” said Tri Bayu.
Furthermore, Tri Bayu emphasised that these patrols and raids are preventive measures by the police to suppress potential disturbances to public security and order that frequently occur from late night to the early morning, while simultaneously creating a sense of safety for the community. In addition to taking legal action, police personnel on the ground also issued warnings to residents active during the night to remain vigilant against potential crime.
