Police Discover Liquid Suspected of Causing Fire at BPK Member IV's Home
Police are still investigating the cause of the fire that killed Haerul Saleh, a member of Division IV of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK RI). During the crime scene processing, police found a liquid suspected to be related to the fire incident. Nevertheless, the Head of Public Relations of the South Jakarta Metro Police Resort, AKP Joko Adi Wibowo, did not disclose the type of liquid. “(We found) a liquid,” said Joko to reporters on Monday (11/5). Joko stated that the liquid finding is still being examined by the National Police Forensic Laboratory Centre (Puslabfor). This is to confirm whether the liquid is indeed related to the fire incident or not. “Currently, the found item has been taken to Puslabfor for examination. And of course, we are still awaiting the results of the Puslabfor examination,” he said. Previously, a fire struck a house on Jalan TB Simatupang No 3, Tanjung Barat, Jagakarsa, on Friday (8/5) morning. This incident resulted in the death of BPK RI Division IV member, Haerul Saleh. The Head of the South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-Directorate, Asril Rizal, said the fire was suspected to have originated from remnants of thinner from house renovations. However, this is still being investigated by the authorities. “The fire is suspected to have come from remnants of thinner from house renovations,” said Asril in his statement. Asril mentioned that the fire incident was reported to the fire department around 07:53 WIB. A total of 12 fire trucks and 48 personnel were deployed to the location to extinguish the flames. Asril explained that the extinguishing operation began around 08:07 WIB and was declared complete at 08:46 WIB.
