Police Discover Large Hidden Safe in Bogor Home During Corruption Raid

Police have discovered a large safe hidden within the wall of a residence in Bogor, West Java, as part of an investigation into corruption cases at state-owned enterprises PLN, ASABRI, and Krakatau Steel. Video footage shows officers from the Criminal Investigation Unit opening a brown wooden wall panel to reveal a large white safe door. The safe was subsequently seized by investigators from the National Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortas Tipikor) and the Metro Jaya Regional Police.

The operation is part of a broader probe that also saw a search at the de’Clan Signature location in Cipete, South Jakarta, where police confiscated documents, electronic devices, and a significant amount of cash. The seized funds included SGD 3,130,000, USD 889,965, and IDR 259,159,000, with a total value of approximately Rp 60 billion when converted.

Kortas Tipikor Chief, Inspector General Totok Suharyanto, stated that the investigation is a joint effort with the Metro Jaya Police’s Special Criminal Investigation Directorate. The cases involve alleged corruption in coal procurement that led to a blackout, irregularities at ASABRI, and the settlement of debts by PT CBS to PT KNI, a subsidiary of Krakatau Steel. Metro Jaya Police spokesperson, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, confirmed that the investigation into bribery, gratification, and money laundering has the direct attention of President Prabowo Subianto.
