Police disclose motive behind Brunei social media star's fatal assault on colleague
The Metropolitan Jakarta Police revealed that Brunei Darussalam social media personality Mohamad Irman Ali (33), known as Woodyrman, assaulted MHF (30) resulting in death in the Blok M area, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. Police spokesperson Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto explained the incident began with a misunderstanding between the suspect and a witness. The victim attempting to defend the witness led to a verbal exchange between the victim and the suspect. ‘Based on preliminary investigations, the assault is suspected to be motivated by the suspect’s emotional outburst,’ Budi told journalists on Thursday (28 May). Budi added that before the incident, the victim had sent a voice message challenging the suspect to fight. As a result, when the victim and suspect met at the scene, the situation turned confrontational. Additionally, the suspect was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. ‘In a fit of rage, the suspect struck the victim once on the head with his right hand, which was holding a paper bag containing a drinks bottle,’ Budi said. ‘As a result of the blow, the victim fell at the scene, received medical treatment, and was later pronounced dead,’ he added. Metropolitan Jakarta Police previously arrested Brunei foreign national MIA (33) suspected of assaulting his colleague MHF (30) to death in Blok M, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. Budi stated the suspect, known as a social media star with the @ Woodyrman account, was arrested early Monday (25 May). ‘A team arrested one suspect identified by the initials MIA, male, 33, a foreign national from Brunei Darussalam, on Monday, 25 May 2026, in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta,’ he told journalists on Tuesday (26 May).
