Police detainee commits suicide

JAKARTA: Drug suspect Fadillah Al Petrik, 33, reportedly
committed suicide late on Tuesday inside a cell at the Central
Jakarta Police headquarters.

Central Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Sukrawardi Dahlan said
on Wednesday the deceased had been in detention for five days and
was going through drug withdrawal.

"His four cell mates said that the last time they saw Fadillah
was when he was going to the bathroom, which is where the guards
found his body," the officer said.

There were no signs of violence on the body, according to a
police report.

Sukrawardi said Fadillah's family had been informed of the
suicide.

"They refused our offer for an autopsy," he said. --JP
