Police Detain Wrong-Way Motorcyclist Who Caused Fatal Accident in Bogor

The Traffic Enforcement Unit of Bogor Police has detained a motorcyclist with the initials AF who was riding against the flow of traffic, triggering a fatal accident in Cibinong, Bogor, West Java. The motorcyclist AF is currently undergoing intensive questioning at the Traffic Enforcement Unit of Bogor Police.

“Investigators have secured the rider who was travelling against traffic. He is currently still being questioned,” said Bogor Police Traffic Division Chief Inspector Afif Widhi Ananto in a written statement on Sunday (22/2/2026).

Afif said the motorcyclist AF was detained by officers at the scene. The Traffic Enforcement Unit of Bogor Police is currently conducting a further investigation into the accident. A number of witnesses and supporting evidence, including CCTV footage, are being gathered for examination.

“Investigators are collecting evidence, including efforts to obtain CCTV recordings. Meanwhile, the vehicles involved in the accident have been impounded at the Traffic Enforcement Unit office,” Afif said.

The accident involved two motorcyclists in Pakansari, Cibinong District, Bogor Regency. It was triggered by a rider travelling against traffic, resulting in one fatality.

“The vehicles involved in the accident were a Yamaha Mio motorcycle with registration plate B-6872-PPA and a Honda Beat motorcycle with registration plate B-6511-ZSM. As a result of the accident, one person was killed and one person sustained minor injuries. The deceased was the rider of the Honda Beat,” said Acting Head of the Traffic Enforcement Unit of Bogor Police, Inspector Ares Rachman, on Sunday (22/2/2026).

Ares said the accident was reported to have occurred in the early hours of the morning at around 03.00 local time, when the victim was travelling from Bogor City towards Jakarta. At the same time, the motorcyclist with the initials AF was riding against traffic and collided with the victim.

“The rider of the Yamaha Mio, the suspected perpetrator with the initials AF, was moving from Cibinong towards Bogor City, against the flow of traffic, veering left and obstructing the road,” Ares said.
