Police Detain Several Individuals Following Deadly Clash in Menteng, Central Jakarta

Police have detained several individuals involved in a deadly clash between groups on Jalan Tambak, Menteng, Central Jakarta. They were taken into custody after officers attempted to break up the brawl, which resulted in one fatality. “Officers tried to intervene and stop the fight, but due to the large number of people involved, there were casualties among the residents and we have detained some of them,” said Central Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKBP Roby Heri Saputra to reporters at the scene on Sunday (26/7/2026). Roby stated that there were victims at the scene who suffered serious injuries and were rushed to hospital. Additionally, ten individuals involved were detained for questioning. Roby added that one of the two victims taken to hospital has died, while the other remains in critical condition. “The latest information is that of the two people evacuated from the scene, they were in critical condition when transported. However, upon arrival at the hospital, one had already passed away,” he said. Roby mentioned that police are still investigating the identities of the two feuding groups. According to him, they frequently occupy a vacant plot of land on Jalan Tambak, the ownership status of which is not yet definitively known. “What we know is that they live here, occupying the land, but regarding the legality or their status in this place, we are still in the process of investigating,” he said. The police have conducted a crime scene investigation at the location. Officers discovered several burnt materials and bloodstains. “At the scene, we found debris from a burnt building, a burnt vehicle, as well as bloodstains and a bloodied rock,” he concluded.
