Brimob Battalion C Pioneer of the Mobile Brigade Corps of the Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police detained five students who were about to engage in a brawl in Ciputat Timur, South Tangerang. Sharp weapons including a machete and sickles were seized.

Police successfully prevented the brawl on Jalan WR Supratman, Rengas, Ciputat Timur, South Tangerang, in the early hours of Sunday (23/8/2026). Officers found a group of youths suspected of preparing to clash while patrolling the area.

“Five students were taken by officers after one machete, two sickles, two motorcycles and four mobile phones were found,” said Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police Mobile Brigade Commander Senior Commissioner Henik Maryanto in his statement on Sunday (23/8).

“The incident also resulted in damage to a cart belonging to a resident,” he added.

Senior Commissioner Henik Maryanto said the presence of personnel on the ground was a preventive measure to anticipate actions that could disturb the community.

“Personnel must be able to read potential vulnerabilities and act quickly when they find indications of security disturbances. Any findings that point to criminal acts will be followed up according to procedure together with the territorial ranks,” he said.

The activity was part of a routine patrol operation targeting a number of potential vulnerabilities, ranging from street crime to inter-group clashes. Before arriving at Jalan WR Supratman, personnel from Battalion C Pioneer patrolled several roads in Ciputat Timur and Ciputat.

“After the situation was brought under control, the five students along with items found at the scene were handed over to the authorities for further processing,” he explained.

Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police Head of Public Relations Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto urged parents to increase supervision of their children’s activities, especially at night and in the early hours. He also reminded students not to carry sharp weapons or engage in brawls because they can endanger themselves and others and face legal proceedings.

“We invite parents, schools and the community to work together to keep our children from getting involved in brawls or dangerous activities. Do not carry sharp weapons and do not be easily provoked into violence. If you are aware of any potential public order disturbance, immediately inform the police through the 110 service so that it can be followed up promptly,” added Senior Commissioner Budi.
