Police destroy liquor, firecrackers

BANDUNG: About 43,000 bottles of liquor and 433,000
firecrackers seized during a recent police operation were
destroyed here on Saturday.

Bandung Police chief Supt. Bagus Kurniawan said the alcohol
was confiscated from dealers, bars and street vendors as part of
a crackdown on drug abuse.

"We hope the operation will curb the crime rate and maintain
public order during the fasting month," Bagus said as quoted by
Antara.

He also said several firecracker producers and dealers were
arrested during the police operation, code-named Antik 2000.(amd)
