Police destroy 700 grams of heroin
JAKARTA: City police destroyed on Thursday two packages of heroin, weighing a total of 700 grams, which were seized last month during a drug raid involving three suspects -- two Indonesians and a Nigerian.
"We destroyed the evidence (heroin) as required by the law, so that it cannot be used for any other purpose," said head of the city police drug squad Adj. Sr. Comr. Carlo B. Tewu.
The evidence was seized from Alub Matlubi, alias Dul, 30, and Nova Herawati, 26, both Indonesians, and Nigerian John Sebastian, 27, who were arrested by the police in Depok last month.
Witnessing the occasion were Suharijadi of the Jakarta Prosecutor's Office, officials from the Food and Drug Control Agency and several activists from the Antidrug Movement (Geram), a non-governmental organization actively campaigning against drug abuse and trafficking.--JP
