Police Deploy Two Advanced Tools for Analysing Train Crash Scene in East Bekasi
Jakarta, VIVA – The Indonesian National Police’s Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) is using two types of traffic accident analysis (TAA) equipment in the process of examining the scene of the train accident at Bekasi Timur Station.
Head of Traffic Accident Analysis of the Subdirectorate of Traffic Accidents, Directorate of Traffic Law Enforcement, Korlantas Polri, Commissioner Sandhi Wiedyanoe, stated in Jakarta on Wednesday that the equipment consists of static and portable versions.
“The static technology with LiDAR camera and 360-degree camera can detect the environment comprehensively, while the portable technology provides a helicopter view pattern, allowing us to view and illustrate in three dimensions with 4K quality,” he explained.
He stated that the recordings from both devices will serve as electronic evidence in the investigation process.
The recordings, he added, will also be presented to the public prosecutor and judges during the trial stages.
“So, as valid evidence used throughout the investigation, prosecution, and trial processes,” he said.
Sandhi also mentioned that Korlantas Polri will further evaluate the green-coloured taxis involved in the accident.
“Certainly, from Korlantas, particularly in collaboration between the Directorate of Law Enforcement and the Directorate of Security and Safety, we will coordinate to evaluate the number of incidents involving green taxis. We will conduct an evaluation of that company,” he stated.
Previously, the train collision incident between KA Argo Bromo Anggrek and the KRL Commuter Line occurred at Bekasi Timur Station, West Java, on Monday evening, 27 April 2026.
As of Wednesday, 29 April, the death toll stands at 16 people, with dozens others injured. (Ant)
