Malang, East Java — Malang Police have mobilised traffic management teams to anticipate congestion at toll exit points, particularly the Singosari toll gate leading towards Malang, ahead of the predicted peak Eid exodus on Wednesday, 18 March.

Ipda Andi Agung, head of the traffic regulation, surveillance, escort and patrol unit at Malang Police, stated at the Karanglo integrated post in Malang District that the Singosari toll exit area has been designated a priority security zone due to its critical role as the main entry point for vehicles from Jakarta and Surabaya.

“We have deployed traffic management teams comprising traffic unit personnel and officers from the Malang District Transportation Office. The Singosari toll gate is the primary entry point for the exodus,” Andi said.

Management teams have been positioned not only in the northern region of Malang District but also in the southern area of Kepanjen.

Andi explained that congestion risks at the Singosari toll exit are high due to the presence of the Karanglo four-way intersection, which serves as the main connecting route between Malang District and both Batu City and Malang City.

Beyond Singosari, the Lawang and Pakis toll exits also remain under police attention.

An estimated 25,000 vehicles daily are expected to pass through Malang District during the peak exodus and Eid holiday period. During the preceding days, inbound traffic to Malang City and Batu City reached 20,939 vehicles on Friday, 22,842 on Saturday, 17,805 on Sunday, and 20,304 on Monday.

Accordingly, Andi stated that Malang Police have coordinated with relevant stakeholders across the greater Malang area to collectively address potential traffic congestion, particularly at inter-district boundaries.

“Should emergency conditions arise, response protocols will be coordinated with the police units in Lawang and Pakis,” he said.

Beyond toll roads, local police have also prepared to manage vehicle volume increases from other routes by establishing service posts and security checkpoints. Service posts have been positioned along the Western Transit Route (Jalibar) in Malang District, whilst security checkpoints have been set up in Gubugklakah, Kendalpayak, Slorok, Kepuharjo, and along the Southern Transit Route (JLS) in Malang.
