Police Deploy Thousands of Personnel to Secure Takbiran Night

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Police (Polri) are deploying thousands of personnel to secure the Takbiran night for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah through the implementation of Operation Ketupat 2026. The head of the Public Relations Task Force for Operation Ketupat 2026, Brigadier General Tjahyono Saputro, stated in Jakarta on Friday that this year’s security involves a total of 317,666 personnel to ensure the situation remains safe and conducive across all regions of Indonesia. He said that all territorial police units are prepared to carry out security, particularly at places of worship to be used for Eid al-Fitr prayers. “Security has already been prepared by the territorial units for mosques or places of worship that will be used for Eid prayers. So, all territorial units are ready to carry out security,” he said. He added that the security pattern implemented also prioritises preemptive and preventive measures, but is still supported by firm and measured law enforcement. All personnel are also on standby to anticipate potential public order and security disturbances, including traffic congestion, roaming takbir processions, and increased public activity in crowded centres. Polri, he continued, has prepared supporting facilities in the form of 2,746 operation posts consisting of 1,624 security posts, 779 service posts, and 343 integrated posts spread across various strategic points. Security is focused on a number of vital objects and public activity centres, including 121,803 mosques, 54,561 Eid al-Fitr prayer locations, 618 terminals, 562 ports, 182 airports, 268 railway stations, 2,966 shopping centres, and 4,647 recreational tourist spots. Furthermore, he urged the public not to light firecrackers or fireworks that could endanger their own safety or others’, as well as disturb public order. “They are also urged to carry out takbiran in an orderly manner and comply with existing traffic rules. Do not use vehicles not intended for takbiran night,” he added.
